Frances Tickle Harris, age 93, was called home with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2010. A native of Alamance County, she was born January 23, 1917 to the late William "Bill" and Cora Alberta Tickle and was the wife of the late Cleveland William Harris. Frances attended Elon Public School and completed her senior year at age 68. She worked in various Burlington hosiery plants for 44 years. A member of People's Memorial Christian Church, Frances lived a Christian life and devoted her life to the Lord, her family and friends. She was also the first to bring meals to the sick, injured and bereaved families. She spent many happy days in her kitchen freezing, canning and preparing happy family meals. Survivors include her sons, Billy Joe Harris, Sr. and wife Daisey, Robert Lee Harris and wife Alice and Donald Henry Harris; four grandchildren, Billy Harris, Jr. and wife Dianne, Deborah Bentz and husband Bruce, Alan Harris, and Robbie Harris; great grandchildren, Will Harris and wife Christina and Brandon Harris; a sister, Lucille Stubbs and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; a son, Daniel Harris; sisters, Thelma Phillips, Ruth Cardin, Lillian Conklin; a brother, John Tickle; a grandson, Terry Lee Harris and a granddaughter, Christine Harris. She resided at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale, NC for the past 15 years where she was an Alzheimer's patient. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff for their loving care and excellent support. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 16, 2010 at 2:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Brian Butler with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-1:45pm prior to the service on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home.
