Floyd Tapp

BURLINGTON–Floyd Clinton Tapp, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Duke University Medical Center following several months of failing health.  He was born in Alamance County on November 17, 1943 to the late Floyd Foust and Eileene Jones Tapp.

Floyd retired as a Drill Sergeant and Recruiter in the US Army. He had a full career with the state road service and was a member of Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed country dancing and swimming, racket ball and basketball at the YMCA.  But his true comfort was found spending time on the family property in the county, in which he later referred to as his “happy place”.

Survivors include his brother, Donald Tapp; aunt, Gertrude Jones; cousin, Lindsay Tapp; nephew, Shannon Buckner; great nephew, Logan Buckner; special friend, Susan Barrus and numerous cousins.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory by Pastor David Grinnell with the burial to follow at Chestnut Ridge UMC Cemetery in Efland.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 prior to the service on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alamance County YMCA, 1346 South Main Street
