Floyd Eugene Dix, 78 of 408 Chapel Hill Road Burlington, NC went to be with his Savior on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 5:50 am after 18 years of amazing his family and medical providers with his ability to laugh in the face of illness and fight. He was born December 30, 1932, to the late Lynwood and Nannie Jefferson Dix. He was the cherished husband of Marjorie Loftis Dix, of the home, for 57 years. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one infant son, Darrell Eugene Dix; brothers, James Dix, Herman Dee Dix and sister Kathleen Dix. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son Floyd E. Dix II and partner Katie of Greensboro; four daughters, Anita Dix Coble and husband Eddie of Burlington, Beverly Dix Howerton and husband Brent of Elon, Cathy Dix Ingle and husband David of Whitsett, and Jackie Lee Dix of Burlington; grandchildren, Eddie-Wayne Coble, Layla Storey Yankle, Karla Wilson, Gari Ann Wilson Kania, Jonathan Howerton, Michael Howerton, Alexis "Ally" Howerton, Amber Barbour Vaughn, Chelsi Ingle Kizziah, Zack Ingle, Kalah Smith, Mikel McCauley, and Megan Snead; great-grandchildren, Kendle and Ethan Storey, Isabella and Judah Yankle, Joseph and Ellie Coble, Carlie Kizziah, Aiden Duffey, Kamdyn Wilson and Madison Oliver; sisters Annie Burke, Ruby King, Pearl Dix all of Graham, Onie Dodson of Gibsonville and two brothers, Junior Dix of Snow Camp, and Earl Dix of Haw River. He was a member of People's Memorial Christian Church of Burlington, an avid gardener and cook. He was a self made man and a remarkable provider for his family. His humor and ability to turn loss into lessons will be sorely missed. The funeral will be held 2:00pm Sunday, May 29, 2011 at People's Memorial Christian Church by Rev. John Shields and Rev. Norman Fargis. The burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
