Fannie Mae Fitch Byrd, 97, of Rascoe Dameron Road and Homeplace of Alamance, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at Alamance Regional Hospital. She was the wife the late Anchor Clarence Byrd to whom she was married for seventy-four years. A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas Fitch and the late Fannie Rascoe Fitch. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for seventy-five years. Surviving are daughter Rebecca Caison of Mebane, and four sons C. Richard and wife Lena of Yadkinville, Glenn E. and wife Valeree and Ralph R. and wife Geneva of Burlington, and Larry E. and wife Carolyn of Mebane. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren Douglas Byrd and wife Martha, Cynthia Speer and husband Mike, Dale Byrd and wife Penny of Yadkinville; Martha Byrd of Pilot Mountain; Gerald Byrd and wife Tracy of Cary; Teresa Byrd, Diane Hopkins and husband Gary, Glea Haithcock and husband Stanley, Ronnie Byrd and wife Janet, Veronica Troxler and husband Jeff, Jerry Byrd and wife Wendy of Burlington; Dana Pasour and husband John of Haw River; Tim Byrd and wife Robbie of Graham; and Gina Caison of Davis, California. She is also survived by twenty-six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, three step grandchildren, one step great grandchild and two step great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister Pearl Byrd and three brothers, Abner, Jim Henry, and Julas Fitch. A lifelong resident of the Anderson Community, she was a strong supporter of the community 4-H Club opening her home for its meetings. She also assisted the Bookmobile of Caswell County in its services to residents of the area. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 15 at 2PM in the Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Kenneth Key and Elder Cleo Robertson. Burial will follow at the Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetary. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at the home 2321 Rascoe Dameron Road. The family would like to thank the staff of Homeplace of Alamance for their care during the last four years.
