Ezekiel “Zeke” Hayes Ferguson, 29, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his home. He was a native of Alamance County and he was the son of Paul Reives “Chip” Ferguson, Jr. and Tammie Hayes Ferguson.
There is not enough room in print or digital media to say all we want to share about Zeke. Below is a “snapshot” of our son.
Zeke was one of a kind. He had a big heart and was extremely loyal to those he loved and the things he believed in. Zeke was strong in his faith. He loved his family, his friends, his puppy, his God, and his country. He was a son, brother, and uncle to not only his family, but to his friends’ families. He was the fun uncle to his nephew and niece and his friends’ kids. Zeke was a hard worker and was always ready to help his friends when they called.
Zeke started as a fire explorer, then a fire fighter with Faucette Township Fire Department. Later he joined North Central Alamance Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter and medical responder. Zeke enjoyed working on cement mixers and other heavy trucks. He had just started a new phase of his career with a promising future. He was a graduate of Western Alamance High School and Nashville Auto Diesel College.
Zeke touched many lives during his time on earth. He is well loved and is missed by all.
He is survived by his parents, Chip and Tammie Ferguson of Burlington; his sister, Sarah Nikitin and husband, Jesse of Burlington; nephew, Levi Nikitin and niece, Sawyer Nikitin; uncles and aunts, Harry Hayes, Nancy Hayes, Sylvia (Danny) Costin; numerous special cousins and special friends; and his special dog “Blaze”. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Doris Hayes and paternal grandparents, Paul R. Ferguson, Sr. and Shirley Ferguson; aunt, Carolyn Huckaby and a cousin, Jeremy Chad Causey.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11am at First Baptist Church of Elon by Dr. David Durham. The burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday June 2, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his parents’ home.
