Burlington Everett Warren McNeilly, 87, after a long full life, departed into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, March 16, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Cleveland County to the late Julius Ambrose and Sarah Ida Jane Chapman McNeilly, and was married to the late Helen Smarr McNeilly. Everett retired from the N.C. Employment Security Commission and was a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country in World War II. He was a faithful and devoted member of Grove Park Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, a long-time choir member and was in The Progressive Sunday School Class. Everett was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather communicating God's love in every area of his life. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Melvin Payne Fechner of San Antonio, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, John Warren and Stacy Boydston McNeilly of Burlington; grandchildren, Joshua Fechner, Susanna Fechner, Caleb Fechner, Sarah Fechner, Jedidah Fechner, Brooke McNeilly and Brandon McNeilly. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and siblings, Roy, Sanford, Lela, Marvin, Rebecca, Ramon, Minnie, Eva, Summie and Bessie. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1100 AM at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Gene Hunsinger and Mel Fechner. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at his residence.
