Evelyn Simmons

BURLINGTON Mrs. Evelyn Stewart Simmons, age 60, of 818 Tucker St., passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 at her home. A native of Person County, she was the wife of Frank Moses Simmons and the daughter of the late Willie Earl and Mildred Poteat Stewart. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Community Church and had formerly been employed by Glen Raven Mills for 28 years. Survivors include her husband, Frank M. Simmons of the home; daughters, Pamela Louise Stewart and Wendy Carol Ivey both of Burlington; sister, Annie Williams of Roxboro; brothers, Keith Stewart and Carl Stewart both of Roxboro and James Stewart of Burlington; 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, David Maurice Simmons; brothers, Larry and Willard Stewart. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the Mt. Carmel Community Church by Rev. Robert Elmore, pastor. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until 1:00 pm, prior to the service.
