Burlington - Eurell Chandler "Tiny" Stanfield, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Liberty Commons Rehab. He was the husband of 69 years to Hilda Grey Dunevant Stanfield who survives. Eurell was born on August 19, 1927 in Person County to a family of thirteen brothers and sisters. He was the son of the late Jasper Clevland and Cordelia Chandler Stanfield.
Eurell retired after 38 years from AT&T formerly Western Electric. He was a US Army veteran, entering service at the end of WWII. He was a member of Bethel Christian Church where he formerly served as a deacon, usher, choir member and Sunday School Superintendent. Eurell was a member of the Pleasant Grove Civitan Club. He loved gospel and bluegrass music and was a member of Shorty, Tiny and Alamance Bluegrass Boys.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Dunevant Stanfield of the home; children, Anthony Eurell Stanfield and wife, Linda of Mebane, Debra Elkins and husband, Ted of Chapel Hill and Faith Miller and husband, Tony of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Adam Stanfield and partner, Christopher Wilson, Anthony Grey Dominguez and wife, Cristina, Allison Whittington and husband, Ben, Andrew Stanfield and fiancé, Samantha Cohen, Ashton Stanfield, Dustin Miller, Dylan Miller, Sydnor Elkins and husband, James Taheny, Alexander Elkins and wife, Emily Sternbach; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Sue Woodson of Oxford and Lillie Mae Stevens and a brother, Ervin Stanfield and wife, Polly of both of Burlington; sister-in-law, Shirley Winebarger of Burlington and brother-in-law, Coy Dunevant and wife, Linda of Durham; special cousin, Betty Long and his caregivers, Faye Gammons, Nancy Foushee and GiGi Boykin; and a number of very special nephews and nieces and their children.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Bethel Christian Church by Pastor Barry Lane. The burial will follow with military honors in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church. At other times the family will be at the home.
