Elon- Etner Virginia Tucker, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Guilford County and was the wife of 63 years to the late Carlis Glenn Tucker. Etner was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church and retired from Dixie Belle Textiles in Gibsonville. She was an only child, yet became the matriarch of a large family having nine kids and nearly one hundred grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Louise Smith of Burlington, Lucretia Barber of Elon, Louellen Bailey and husband, George of Liberty and Linda Lewis and husband, Donnie of Elon; sons, Lloyd Tucker and wife, Faye of Holden Beach, Luther Tucker of Graham, Lathan Tucker of Haw River, Leary Tucker and wife, Linda of Elon and Lynwood Tucker of Elon; twenty three grandchildren, fifty two great grandchildren and twenty four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlis Glenn Tucker; her mother, Sally Ingold Allen and a great great granddaughter, Bailey Smith. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Steve Tucker and Rev. Joe Seay with the entombment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Altamahaw Baptist Church building fund or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
