Ethel Preddy

Miss Ethel Irene Preddy, 88, passed away Wednesday at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields after four years of declining health. She was born in Alamance County to the late Robert Wilburn Preddy, Sr. and Lola Martin Preddy. Ethel worked at several hosiery mills, Trade, Long, Liberty and retired from Carolina Hosiery Mill. After retirement she went to work with Stadler Country Hams. Ethel was a member of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church; she never married and stayed at home as her mothers caregiver for over 40 years. Survivors include her sisters, Margaret Williams, Peggy Paris and husband, Dillard; brothers, Robert Bob Preddy, Jr. and wife, Mary, and James Jim Preddy; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Edith Clark. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Brian Wardlaw with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 1:45pm Saturday prior to the service and other times at the home.
