Ethel Oakley

Ethel Parks Oakley, 86, of Burlington passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Hospice Home. She was born in Rockingham County to the late K.G. and Nannie Smothers Parks and was married to the late James Thomas "Tom" Oakley. Mrs. Oakley was a registered nurse who worked many years for Dr. Blair and she was a member of Elon Community Church. Her family includes a sister, Grey Kimbro of Yanceyville; a brother, Roy "Pete" Parks of Reidsville; numerous nieces and nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jake and Helen Oakley, Lloyd and Doris Mansfield, Gene and Joyce Oakley, Pat and Boyd Byrd, Clyde and Swannanoa Oakley, and Hubert and Frances Oakley. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Odessa Carter, Erlene Hall and Irene Boswell and a brother, Harold Parks. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Monday, July 1, 2013 at Elon Community Church by Rev. Bob Knowles with interment to follow in Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
