Ethel Norris

Mrs. Ethel Walling Norris, age 82, of 6501 Friedens Church Rd., died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. Born in Bristol, TN, she was the daughter of the late William Buren Walling and the late Viola Jones Walling Arnold and was married for over 48 years to Sidney Norris, who died in 2006. Ethel was employed with the Guilford County School System and worked for many years in the cafeteria of Gibsonville Elementary School, Eastern Guilford Middle School and Eastern Guilford High School. Ethel loved children and her wish was to have a home full of children, God granted her wish through the children she served at school. She was a longtime member of Twin Oaks Church. Mrs. Norris is survived by her two daughters, Barbara J. Aldridge and Ywan Mason of Gibsonville and Melinda Lynn Owen of Martinsville, IN; three grandchildren, Dennis Brian Aldridge of Burlington and William and Daniel Owen of Martinsville, IN; and a great grandson, Nolan "Stryker" Aldridge. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Aretta Marie Norris; and thirteen brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. James Laws. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
