Burlington Ethel J. Cole of Burlington, NC died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Alamance Health Care Center after several months of failing health. She was born in Orange County, NC on September 16, 1918, the daughter of the late Charlie Edwin Jordan and Cassie Breeze Jordan. Mrs. Cole worked at US Rubber Co. and retired from The Remnant Shop. She has been a long time member of Front Street United Methodist Church where she served for several years as president of the Fannie Larkin Sunday School Class. She belonged to the United Methodist Women and the Methodist Seniors. In addition to her parents, Ethel Cole was preceded in death by her son, Charles N. Cole; her sister, Ruby Bane; her brother, Richard Jordan; infant brother, Charlie Jordan and a special nephew, Taitym Benesch. Survivors include her grandson, Stephen C. Cole and wife Kory of Canandaigua, NY; granddaughter, Cathleen Johnstone of Asheville; granddaughter, Leanne Magnuson and husband, David of Greenville, SC: daughter-in-law, Carol Cole of Charlotte, her sister Earle Thompson of GA,; six great grandchildren; niece Dolly Benesch and husband Tony of Mebane; nephews, Garland Thompson and his wife, Rosario of DC, Jim Thompson and his wife, Leah of Athens, GA, Richard Jordan, Jr. and Tommy Jordan and wife Faye. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Marshall Old and Rev. Nathan Arledge with interment following in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the services at Lowe Funereal Home and Crematory. Memorials may be made to Front Street United Methodist Church, 136 S. Fisher Street, Burlington, NC 27215 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
