Esther Murrell

Esther Bunton Murrell, 68, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born in Guilford County on February 4, 1947 to the late James Everett and Hazel James Bunton. She was the wife of Jerry Thomas Murrell, with whom she had just celebrated 50 years of marriage and who was holding her hand as she left this life and made her journey home. Esther was a lifetime member of McLeansville Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, with her husband and with other various church groups. She also sang and played the mandolin with Triple M Bluegrass for 28 years. She was a former judge for Guilford County Board of Elections at Fire Station 28 and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Esther was a loving and devoted wife, sister and friend to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path in life. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a true servant of God who was always doing for others and giving of herself without ever expecting anything in return. She is survived by her husband, Jerry of the home; her brothers, Danny Bunton and his wife Faye, Sammy Bunton and his wife Renee; sisters-in-law, Dolly Gunnell and her husband Jimmy, Donna Oakley and her husband Cliff, Bonnie Murrell and her fianc Jodie Summers and Ginny Murrell; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; mother-in-law, Dora Z. Murrell and brothers-in-law, Kenneth, Larry, Bobby and Jimmy Murrell. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, August 16, 2015 at McLeansville Baptist Church by Rev. Jack Lemons and Rev. Nila Souther with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Saturday at McLeansville Baptist Church and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to McLeansville Baptist Church, 5205 Friedens Church Rd.
