Mrs. Essie Mae Whitley Worth, 81, formerly of E. Gilberth St., died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Clairbridge at Burlington Manor after several months of failing health. Born in Nash County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Whitley and the late Leona Strickland Whitley and was married to the late Lester Carl Worth, Jr., who died in 2001. She retired from Brown-Wooten with over 23 years service, was a member of Graham Wesleyan Church and formerly served on the board of the Alamance County Gospel Music Association. Mrs. Worth is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Ann Moize and husband, James "Pevie", of Liberty and Becky Lynn Coleman of Burlington; two sons, Thurman Davis, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, and Jimmy Lee Davis, all of Burlington; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Estelle Miller and Christine Whitley and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Davis. A cryptside service will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Stacey Hall and Rev. Howard Thompson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Pat Moize, 8417 Wildrose Dr., Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
