Erwin Martin

Whitsett-Erwin Blake Martin, 72 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 22, 2016. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 48 years to Priscilla Strayhorne Martin who survives.
Blake retired from Sherwin Williams and was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church. Blake was a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Whitsett Fire Station # 31. He was a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association. Blake was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling with his family, especially taking trips to the coast. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter, Allison Martin of Raleigh; son, Eric Martin and wife, Christy of Mcleansville; grandchildren, Aaron (Hope) Martin and Connor Martin; great grandson, Carter Martin; sister, Sharon Hunt and husband, Larry of Whitsett; brother, Dennis Martin and wife, Jan of Hickory and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Chester and Juanita Priscilla Dickey Martin and a son-in-law, William Apple.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at Davis Street United Methodist Church by Rev. Jimmy Weaver and the family will receive friends from 9:45-10:45 am prior to the service at the church. The entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum and the family will be at the residence at other times.
