Ervin Somers

Ervin "Bid" Lee Somers, age 84 passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at his home. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of the late Rose Marie Perkins Somers. Bid was employed for many years with Monarch Hosiery and he was a self- employed auto mechanic most of his life. Bid was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of Ossipee Baptist Church. He retired after 20 years with the A-O Volunteer Fire Department. Bid was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Delores Terrell of Mebane; sons, Frederick Somers of Elon, Steve Somers and wife, Janice of Elon and Michael Somers and wife, Pamelia of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kim, Crystal, Samantha, Stacy, Brian, Aaron and Jessica; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Godwin of Elon; Bonnie Huskey of Elon and Marie Bunn of Gibsonville. He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Lee Alexander Somers; parents, Herman Alexander and Beulah Wrenn Somers; son-in-law, Richard Terrell; sister, Shirley Gay; infant brother, Ralph Somers and brothers, H. A., and Paul Somers. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11:00 am at Alamance Memorial Park by pastor Paul West. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his son, Steve Somers.
