Omeita Emogene Moore Wallace Hardy, 86, passed away Tuesday May 19, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 24, 1933 in Alamance County to the late James Minot Moore and Maggie King Moore, and was the wife to Allen Lester Hardy who survives.
Emogene retired from Alamance-Burlington School System after 37 years as a teacher, member of Bethlehem Christian Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Emogene was a member of the Burlington Artist League, Retired Teacher Association, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and volunteered at the Alamance County Home Makers Extension Council.
Survivors other than her husband, Allen Hardy, include a son, Fred Craven Wallace (Angie); daughter, Rachel Wallace Dowdell (John); step children, Lisa Hardy Benson (Joe) and Kenneth Hardy; grandchildren, Lauren Shumaker (Tyler), Bryan Wallace, Carl Dowdell and Audrey Dowdell; and a brother, James Thomas Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Wallace and sister, Rebecca Moore Hardy.
A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00am Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Todd Felkel and Rev. Matt Smith with the burial to follow in the church cemetery.
