Emmitt Partin

Emmett Bennett Pat Partin, age 88, of 1466 Morningside Dr., passed away Saturday evening, September 3, 2011 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. A native of Durham County, he was the husband of Irene Vick Partin and son of the late William Clifton and Vinnie Frances Oakley Partin. He was employed by Western Electric and later retired from AT@T, was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a loyal husband, father, and friend to many, an avid woodworker and Tar Heel fan. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Irene Vick Partin; sons, Charles B. Charlie Partin and wife Donna of Graham and Gregory K. Greg Partin of Burlington; daughter, Donna Gwynn Partin of Burlington; granddaughter, Erin Michelle Partin of Graham; sisters, Jean ODaniel and husband Delos of Chapel Hill, Rebecca Harris and husband Harold of Chapel Hill, and Jackie Wilson and husband Jim of Bolder, CO; and a special family friend, Bonnie Gilley of Graham. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wilbur Partin; sisters, Sue Thomas and Rachel ODaniel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Fred Treadwell and Rev. Bob Stephenson. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Partin will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8pm Monday. The family would like to thank the staffs of Alamance Health Care, Alamance Regional Medical Center and The Hospice Home for the special care given to their husband and father. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
