Emma Norris Overman also known as “Toots” or “Sis”, 89, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Alamance House after several months of declining health. She was born on March 21, 1931 in Alamance County, 1 of 15 children, to the late Charlie “C.G.” Gaddis Norris and Eunice Faith Montgomery Norris and was married to the late Goley Martin Overman who died in 1994.
Emma retired from Steel Heddle Manufacturing Company of Greensboro. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Alamance and a member of North State Boat Club. Emma enjoyed fishing, camping at Buggs Island and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her siblings, C.G. “Junior” Norris, Jr., Coy (Renata) Norris, Jerry (Rosa) Norris, Jean Scott, Larry (Linda) Norris, Carl (Jan) Norris, Danny (Cindy) Norris, Tony (Mary Jean) Norris; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and a special granddaughter, Haley Lohr. Emma was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Wayne, Fred, Kenneth and Earl Norris; and her sisters, Annie Surles and Patsy Mitchell.
The graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. David Mros. You may come by Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory to pay your respects from 11 to 12pm prior to the service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses at Alamance House for all their compassion and loving care that was shown to “Toots” during her illness.
