Elsie Lee West, 86, passed away on November 24, 2024. She was born on October 24, 1938, in Alamance County, and was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by her commitment to family and faith.
Elsie was a proud graduate of Williams High School in 1957, establishing a foundation of hard work and determination that she carried throughout her life. She dedicated over 20 years of her professional life to Burlington Industries, where she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues. She was also a woman of deep faith and was honored to be the first female deacon at Piedmont Presbyterian Church. Her active involvement in her church was a testament to her devotion and served as a source of inspiration for many.
An avid golfer, Elsie found joy on the golf course, often with her husband by her side. She cherished the camaraderie of her golfing buddies, and these friendships brought her immense happiness.
Elsie is survived by her sons, Mike West and his wife Kathy, and David West and his wife Candy. She was a proud grandmother to Lindsay Clarke and her husband Dan, Caitlin Buskirk and her husband Rob, and Kalleigh West, and her great-grandchildren, Jacob Clarke and Theodore Clarke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. West; parents, John Walter Lee and Daisy M. Lee; and her brother, John Wayland Lee.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowe Funeral Home. A celebration of Elsie’s life will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 1 PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park.
Elsie Lee West’s spirit touched many lives, and her memory will be forever honored by her family and the countless friends who were fortunate to know her.
