Elsie Brown Varner, 84, of 212 Brightwood Church Rd., was peacefully called home by her heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born in Rockingham County to the late Walter Jackson and Minnie Wyrick Brown and was married for 63 years to Leroy C. Varner who survives. Elsie was Administrative Assistant for 30 years to Avery Thomas, CPA. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Ladies Fellowship and was the church pianist as long as she was able. Elsie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and they were second only to her love for the Lord. She is survived by her husband of the home, daughters, Linda Bob Maccia, Pam Steve McHone, all of Gibsonville; four grandchildren, Deena Ellis, Sheri Allred, Ryan Clapp and Lori Durham and five great grandchildren, Morgan, Bayley, Austin, Skylar, Jack and one on the way. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church by Pastor Delton Agnor and Pastor Gene Beaver with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence. The family would like to thank Sheila Worth and her angels, Yasha Worth, Brenda Senter, Pauline Curry, Wanda Clegg, Audrey Parker, Dorothy Thame and Katie Summers for their love, kindness and wonderful care of Miss Elsie. They would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, with a special thanks to Tammi Deal, her special nurse.
