Greensboro Elsie Shambley Turner, 90, of Greensboro, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Carriage House following a year long illness. Mrs. Turner, formerly of Burlington, had been a resident at The Carriage House Assisted Living in Greensboro for over 6 years. She was born on July 3, 1919 to the late Alfred and Minnie Pearl Shambley. She was preceded in death by her soul mate of 62 years, J. Clay Turner. Survivors include one daughter, Delores Turner Perry and her beloved husband Charles E. Perry, of Greensboro; a very special and dedicated grandson, Charles C. "Chad" Perry and his wife Robin of Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven brothers; Jack Shambley, Walter Shambley, Paul Shambley, Alfred Shambley, Jr., Gordon Shambley, Winifred Shambley and Joe Shambley; sisters, Peggy Roney and Violet Shambley; and a half-sister, Margaret Moize. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Terry Knighten. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of Delores and Charles Perry, 2010 Bracyridge Rd., Greensboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
