Elsie Shelton

Burlington, NC Elsie Allred Shelton, age 88, of Carolina Avenue went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Hospice Home. She was a native of Randolph County and the wife of 71 years to the late Everette Shelton who died in 2009. Elsie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alamance and she retired after 35 years with Kayser Roth Hosiery. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn Davis and her husband, Leroy of Graham, Nancy Mays of Efland, Alice Hanks and her husband, Frank of Burlington; son, Dan Shelton and his wife, Patty of Gibsonville; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Shelton; a great grandchild, Gary Gibson; parents, George Thomas and Eva Caroline Bray Allred; sister, Lizzie Maie Allred; brothers, James, Paul, Floyd and Howard Allred and a son-in-law, Esten Mays. The Shelton family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice for their kindness and care over the past months for Elsie. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Reid Dickens and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times on Monday at the residence.
