Elsie Phillips Profitt, 79, entered heaven’s gates March 23, 2021 at AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Alamance County. She was a native of Letcher County, Kentucky and graduated from Whitesburg High School in 1961. She worked more than 30 years at A Cleaner World/Master Kleen/Hangers. She was a true Coal Miner’s daughter and longed to go home to “the mountain”. She enjoyed traveling and working in her yard. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was born July 9, 1941 to Benjamin F. Phillips and Floy L. Mullins Phillips, both who are deceased.
Surviving are daughter, Mary P. Godley (Mark); son David G. Profitt (Gina Michelle); her companion for over 30 years, Vernon Craine; sisters, Doris P. King, Ella P. Cromer (Frank); brothers Verlon Phillips (Jean); Hoyt Phillips (Linda); Kenneth Phillips (Shirley), 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Gilbert W. Profitt, brothers Alan Phillips, Harold Phillips, Ben Phillips Jr, Sisters, Audrey Roberts, Mildred Stenzel, Pearl Showalter, Joyce Harris.
The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Cauthren. Interment will follow in Towe Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. You are welcome to attend the funeral or watch it live on the funeral home website www.lowefuneralhome.com. Mrs. Profitt will be available for public viewing 1:00 – 5:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 1:45 PM Friday prior to the funeral.
A special thanks to those that helped with her daily care: Gina Michelle, Beverly Whitsett Ector, and Vernon Craine. The family wishes to express our gratitude for the loving kindness and care shown to mom this last week: The ED and 1-C staff and physicians at Cone Health Alamance Regional, the staff at AuthoraCare Hospice of Alamance county, and her long-time personal physician, Dr. Bert Klein of Kernodle Clinic.
