Elsie Irene Rigney Little, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Guilford County on August 5, 1941 to the late Rufus Lee Rigney and Ila Adell Thomas Snyder.
Irene retired after 41 years with Cone Mills and was a member of McLeansville Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and going on camping trips to the mountains, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Faye Little Peoples; her son, Ronald “Ron” Ray Little and significant other Donna Ruth Anderson; her granddaughter that she adored, Rebecca P. Linville and husband Walter; a sister, Betty Rigsbee; brothers, Glen Snyder, Lindsey Snyder (Paulette), Larry Snyder (Cindy), Michael Rigney and Richard Rigney; several nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Rigney; mother, Ila Adell Thomas Snyder; step father, Albert Snyder; son-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Peoples; an infant sister, Rebecca Ann Snyder and brothers, Hubert “Buddy” and Howard Rigney.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Mike Barnette. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the daughters’ home in Reidsville.
