Elmon "Peggy" Strouth Tolbert, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, gracefully departed this life on January 4, 2025, at the age of 91. Born one of 19 children on August 8, 1933, she was a beacon of faith, love, and strength for her family and everyone fortunate enough to know her. Peggy's nurturing spirit was evident in every aspect of her life. Above all, she cherished God and her family, dedicating her heart to them. She found immense joy in worshiping God and watching her family grow, leaving behind a loving legacy to her large family who will carry her love forward.
Proud of her roots, Peggy's family was her unwavering focus. The bonds she created and nurtured will forever stand as a testament to her loving nature. She is survived by her children, Robert Brooks, Walter Andrews and wife Vickie, and Polly Fox; as well as 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with a sister, Goldie Louise Murphy, who shared in the joy of their family together.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Tolbert; parents, John W. Strouth and Mary Lacy Hardy Strouth; 17 brothers and sisters; as well as four of her children, Cecil Shelton, Jr., Donald Eugene Strouth, Kenneth Wayne Andrews, and Fran Poole.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pine Hill Cemetery.
In the hearts of her family, Peggy will always remain a source of inspiration and faith. Her dedication to her loved ones, coupled with her undeniable strength, leaves a legacy that will be cherished for generations. While she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to guide and watch over her family she adored so deeply.
