Ellen Edwards

Gibsonville Ellen Esther Sears Edwards, 88, of 103 Ticino St. in New Bern died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Craven Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Morton Edwards and the daughter of the late William T. and Emma Mahaffey Sears. A native of Rock Hill SC, she grew up in Gibsonville. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Elon where she enjoyed being a member of the church choir and teaching Sunday School. She loved to sing and play the piano and organ. She is survived by her daughters, Annette Waters of New Bern, Carol Mangum and her husband Leonard of Gibsonville, daughter -in-law, Sylvia Edwards of Whitsett, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph M.Joe Edwards Jr., husband, parents, seven sisters and three brothers. Funeral service will be held 11:00am Saturday at First Baptist Church of Elon by Rev. Mark Mofield and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
