Ella Walters

Burlington, NC Ella Rae Lowder Walters, age 72, of Lowder Road went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at UNC Hospital. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 47 years to Joseph "Joe" A. Walters who survives. Ella Rae retired after 40 years in the design office of the Pioneer Plant of Burlington Industries. She was a member of Lakeview Community Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Happy Timers' Group. Ella Rae was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Ella Rae and her husband enjoyed taking trips to the mountains and the coast. Survivors include her husband, Joseph "Joe" Albert Walters of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Derek Blackwood of Burlington; son, Joey Walters of Burlington; grandchildren, Seaton, Mason and Kolby Blackwood, Logan and Maggie Walters; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan L. and Lollie Perry Lowder; brother and sister-in-law, Eary Lee and Frona Lowder. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reid Dickens and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
