Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Tate “Liz” Steele, age 77, of Burlington, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell after several months of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Erwin Orrin Tate and the late Lorena Horner Tate and was married for over 57 years to Jerry Raymond Steele, who survives.  She was retired after many years of employment with Southside Builders and was of the Christian faith.  Liz loved to cook, do catering jobs and bake wedding cakes.

Mrs. Steele is survived by her husband of the home; daughter, Tina Cates and husband, Troy; four grandchildren, Blaire, Ashley, Alex and Zachary; four great grandchildren, Noah, Cameron, Kendrick and Coleson; her brother, Lawrence Tate and wife, Carol; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Steele and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 9, 2021 at People’s Memorial Christian Church by Rev. David Grinnell.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoCare Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to charity of the giver’s choice.
