Elizabeth Ann Seelinger Spencer, 45, departed this world on Saturday, October 29, 2016, to spend eternity with her heavenly Father. Beth was born January 30, 1971 in Erie, PA to the late William "Bill" Irwin Seelinger and Ann Christine Guzowski Seelinger who survives and was the wife of 14 years to Derek James Spencer of the home.
Beth was a horse enthusiast who began riding at the age of nine. She graduated from Seneca High School and went on to pursue her passion of working with horses by earning a B.A. degree in Equestrian Studies at Virginia Intermont College.
She was trained by notable riding instructors and became an accomplished athlete in the equestrian sport of Eventing. She competed in advanced level events consisting of stadium jumping, dressage and cross country. She was an adjunct equestrian instructor at Averett University.
Beth continued her career of owning and managing a private horse training and sales facility where she built her dream home on 50 acres of beautiful property in Caswell County, NC, with her husband, Derek. She enjoyed long walks on the farm with family, friends and her dogs, she also enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit friends and family.
She helped people who were emotionally, intellectually, and physically challenged by donating her time to therapeutic equine assisted programs as she worked toward her therapeutic riding instructor certificate and her equestrian cross country course design qualification.
Survivors other than her husband, Derek and her mother, Ann from Burlington include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gregory "Greg" and Rhonda Seelinger of Downers Grove, IL, Ken and Stephanie Seelinger of North East, MD; sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly "Kim" and Eric Biebel of Elon, NC; step children, Jessica Spencer and Nicholas "Nick" Spencer both of Pooler, GA; mother and father-in-law, Cheryl and Sib Strimple of Willard, OH; sister-in-law, Tiffany Wiley and husband, Tim of Norton, OH; brothers-in-law, Darrin Spencer and wife, Jodee of Winston-Salem, NC, Dan Spencer and wife, Christine of North Canton, OH; four step grandchildren "Miss Beth, we will miss you"; several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Seelinger.
The funeral mass will be held 9:00 AM Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Holy Infant Catholic Church in Reidsville by Father Frank J. Ceabo, Jr., immediately following the mass there will be a prayer service at the farm where the family will receive friends along with a reception.
