Elizabeth Perschel

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Perschel, 87, of 4434 Ben Franklin Rd. formerly of Sandlewood Dr. passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at her home. She was the only child of the late William and Ann Elizabeth Johnston Espastoso. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dick" Perschel and daughter Joanne. Betty graduated from Roseville Hospital School of Nursing and practiced OB-GYN nursing for ten years in new York City. Betty was a member of Mt. Sylvan Church for thirty-seven years, member of Sylvan Bible Class, Dorothy Smith Circle, and Charter member of Mt. Sylvan Seniors. She was active in Durham Kennel Club for many years. Survivors include her sons, Richard and Mark Perschel and grandchildren, Mark Perschel, Jr., Matthew and Erin Perschel. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Sylvan Church on Wednesday at 2:00 PM by Rev. Larry Bowden. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Perschel family will receive friends at the church following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to Mt. Sylvan Cemetery Fund, 5731 Roxboro, Rd., Durham, NC 27712. Mrs. Perschel will remain at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. until being taken to the church to lie in state one hour before the service.
