Edwin Shively

Gibsonville, NC Edwin "Bill" Lee Shively, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2011 at White Oak Manor surrounded by his family. He was a native of School Field, Virginia and the husband of 64 years to Clara Ellen Winn Shively who survives. Bill was a retired supervisor with Copland Fabrics and a member of Modern Woodman of the World. He enjoyed wood working and especially making furniture in his shop. Bill was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Winn Shively of the home; daughters; Donna Jean Kernodle and her husband, Kris of Burlington, Vonna Joan and Mike Hayes of Holden Beach, NC, Robin and David Rudd of Burlington; son, Edwin Bryan and Beth Shively of Burlington ; grandchildren, Chandler Rudd, Tommy Cook, Courtney Rudd, Wesley Cook, Eddie and Amanda Shively; Gary and "Robin Hayes, Kim Lunsford, Ethan and Makenzie Shively; seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Wilton Shively and Edna Grace Jones Shively, infant grandchildren, John Timothy Hayes and Theresa Dawn Hayes and a brother, William Wilton Shively, Jr. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Norman Fargis and the entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home of the daughter, Robin Rudd. Memorials may be made to the Edwin B.
