Gibsonville, NC Edwin "Bill" Lee Shively, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2011 at White Oak Manor surrounded by his family. He was a native of School Field, Virginia and the husband of 64 years to Clara Ellen Winn Shively who survives. Bill was a retired supervisor with Copland Fabrics and a member of Modern Woodman of the World. He enjoyed wood working and especially making furniture in his shop. Bill was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Winn Shively of the home; daughters; Donna Jean Kernodle and her husband, Kris of Burlington, Vonna Joan and Mike Hayes of Holden Beach, NC, Robin and David Rudd of Burlington; son, Edwin Bryan and Beth Shively of Burlington ; grandchildren, Chandler Rudd, Tommy Cook, Courtney Rudd, Wesley Cook, Eddie and Amanda Shively; Gary and "Robin Hayes, Kim Lunsford, Ethan and Makenzie Shively; seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Wilton Shively and Edna Grace Jones Shively, infant grandchildren, John Timothy Hayes and Theresa Dawn Hayes and a brother, William Wilton Shively, Jr. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Norman Fargis and the entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home of the daughter, Robin Rudd. Memorials may be made to the Edwin B. Shively, Sr. Memorial Fund, C/o Wells Fargo Bank.
