Edwin "Ed" Frank Showerman

Edwin F Showerman, 88 passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at ARMC surrounded by his family. He was Born in Syracuse, NY on February 11, 1937. Raised in Solvay, NY by his aunt Lillian Mancini, and his uncles Guy Mancini and John Pieklik

Survived by his wife of 63 years, Bernice Jean “BJ” Showerman, his children Sandi Fox (Ted), Scotty Showerman (Robin), his grandchildren T.O. Johnson (Tina), Stewart Veneziano (Sean), Mickey Showerman, Emma Showerman-Robinson (Mason), Caroline Hyde (Daniel), Cooper Fox (Phoebe), and his great grandchildren, Tapley Johnson, Hudson Veneziano, Margaret Veneziano, Georgia Hyde and Lilly Hyde and his sister, Lorraine Hansen.

Ed attended Tri-State University in Indiana where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1958, and then joined the Army where he was in the Infantry Division. Ed met Bernice Jean Hrinya while he was stationed at Fort Sill, OK. He married the love of his life on April 20, 1963. They moved to Syracuse NY where Ed joined the General Electric training program, before joining Burlington Industries in 1964 and moving to Burlington, NC. He spent his whole career as an Industrial Engineer with Burlington Industries.

Ed loved the Lord, his family, his church, Blessed Sacrament, and all sports. He was a lector and usher at Blessed Sacrament his entire life. He was an active member of the daily coffee circle after mass on weekdays. Ed and Bernice volunteered through the church at Allied Churches Meal service. He loved his church.

Ed coached the Blessed Sacrament School’s boy’s basketball team, he coached basketball for almost every age group at the YMCA. He was the Williams High School Booster Club president in 1986, he ran the clock for Williams High School football and basketball for over 30 years. Ed coached middle school football at Turrentine Middle School for over 10 years. He loved his sports and he loved the kids.

When Ed wasn’t at work, church, or coaching sports, he loved to work in the yard and most of all, travel the world with his one true love, his wife, BJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 10:30AM at Our Lady of the Angels Center located at 408 W. Davis Street, Burlington, NC and the family will receive friends from 9:45-10:15AM prior to the service.
