Edward Lee Winburn, age 94, of Burlington, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a couple weeks of failing health.
Born in Marion County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Herbert Winburn and the late Violet Evans Winburn and was married for 69 years to Lorena Chambers Winburn, who passed away in 2013. Ed was a U.S. Army veteran that served during WWII. He retired from Burlington Industries with over 30 years of service and later worked for over 15 years as a security guard. Ed was a longtime and very active member of Wicker St. Baptist Church and had several hobbies that included gardening, lawn care and watching the Atlanta Braves.
Mr. Winburn is survived a daughter, Caroline McKeithen and her husband, Dave, of Live Oak, FL; two sons, Vic Winburn and his wife, Joyce, of Hickory, NC and Dennis Winburn, Sr. and his wife, Debra, of Burlington; nine grandchildren, Jonathan McKeithen, Nicole Heiser, Amy Magloughlin, Kameron Winburn, Alle Rae Winburn, Dennis "Ray" Winburn, Jr., Joshua Patton, Joanna Patton and Sahvarrah Nickcole Winburn; nineteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a son, Wilcie Edward Winburn; twin daughters, Mary Lou Winburn and Betty Sue Winburn; one sister and six brothers.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ricky Lewis. Interment will follow at Blalock and Chambers Family Cemetery in Rougemont, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home
