Edward Lunsford

Elon Edward Harold Lunsford, age 84, of Elon passed away at his home Tuesday, August 10, 2010 after a long period of failing health. He was born on April 28, 1926 to the late William Perry and Hattie Morton Lunsford. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he was employed as an Associate Engineer at Western Electric before retiring. He was an avid sports fan of Duke basketball and enjoyed his beloved "Yankees". Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred "Mickey" Ashworth Lunsford; a son, Bryan Lunsford; a brother, Malcom Perry Lunsford and a sister, Reba Phelps. He is survived by a son, Larry Lunsford; grandsons, Jason and Justin Lunsford; granddaughters, Ashley Lunsford and Aine Achberger; sisters, Linda Kirby and Patricia Cobb and a brother, Dennis Lunsford. A graveside service will be held 11:00am, Friday, August 13, 2010 at Alamance Memorial Park by Pastor Joe Jackson.
