Edward Arnold Hutchins, age 62, of 6439 N.C. 61 North, went to be with the Lord Thursday March 22, 2007 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro following a brief illness. A native of Surry County, he was husband of Wanda Summers Hutchins and son of the late Ellis Hutchins and Beulah Cheek Hutchins who survives. Mr. Hutchins was a retired deputy with the Guilford County Sheriffs Dept. and was presently a cook with the Guilford County Prison Farm. He was a member of Apples Chapel Christian Church, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a former softball coach and enjoyed cooking for his friends. Survivors include his wife Wanda Summers Hutchins of the home; sons, Eddie Randall Hutchins and wife Lynn of Pilot Mountain and Richard Lee Hutchins and wife Tammy of Pinnacle; daughter, Karen Renae Dudley and husband Eric of Gibsonville; Mother, Beulah Cheek Hutchins of Courtland, VA; step sons, James Matthew Whitted of the home and William Edward Whitted of Sarasota, FL; 9 grandchildren; brothers, James Hutchins and wife Marty of Winston-Salem and Ellis Hutchins of King; and sister, Cathy Hutchins of Courtland, Va; He was preceded in death by his father; son, Rodney Hutchins; and a brother, Tommy Hutchins. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday March 24, 2007 at the Apples Chapel Christian Church Cemetery by Rev. C. Allen Myers, III and Rev. Eric Dudley. Mr Hutchins will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church where the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM. Friday.
