Edward Marshall Cobb, 89, of Burlington went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Liberty Commons after several years of failing health. He was born July 25, 1924 in Alamance County to the late Herman G. and Annie Teague Cobb and was married for 62 years to the late Arteil Aldridge Cobb. Edward drove a tank for the U.S. Army during WW II as part of the Battery "C" 33 Field Artillery Battalion. He was formerly employed with May Hosiery Mill and later retired from Burlington Industries at the J. Spencer Love plant. He was a member of Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church and had served as the church clerk. Edward was an avid golfer with three hole-in-ones and was known to shoot his age. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grand father. He is survived by; daughters, Sheron Dean Warren, Terry Gus Gusler, all of Burlington; grandchildren, Brad Brenda Warren, Kevin Gusler; great grandchildren, Brayden Warren and Brylea Warren, a sister Gaynell Bruner of Burlington and a brother Ronald Kay Cobb of Haw River. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, step mother Lucy Cobb and a brother Freddie Cobb. The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Bush Arbor Baptist Church by Elder David Underwood with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter, Sheron Warren, 2659 Hamilton Rd., Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Liberty Hospice, 2563 Eric Lane, Burlington, NC 27215. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the nurses and staff at Liberty Commons and Liberty Hospice for being "Angels".
