Edsel McIntyre, Sr.

Elon - Edsel Howard McIntyre, Sr., 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Edgewood Place in Burlington.  A native of Alamance County, he was born July 23, 1927 to the late James Monroe and Fannie Wrenn McIntyre and was the husband of 64 years to the late Betty Somers McIntyre.

Edsel was a US Army Veteran and a lifetime member of Berea Christian Church where he sang in the choir for many years.  He retired from Industrial Plastics, Inc. after nearly 30 years of service and was the first Mayor of Ossipee, the last surviving charter member of the A.O. Fire Department and a longtime member of the A.O. Civitan.

Survivors include his sons, Edsel Howard McIntyre, Jr. and wife Linda McKinney McIntyre of Roxboro, Kenneth Gregg McIntyre and wife Carolyn Corter McIntyre of Ossipee; grandchildren, Brian McIntyre (Karla) of Roxboro, Susan McIntyre of Urbana, IL; step grandchildren, Amy Wood (Keith), Tommy Faucette (Rhonda) and Daniel Lineberry; step great grandchildren, Elijah, Camryn and Evan Tuck, Marcus, Nick and Michael Kosmos, Brandon and Brittanie Faucette and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; brothers, Clarence, Ben and Woodrow McIntyre; sisters, Zelma Crumpton, Vernie Boone, Lucille Welch and Rachel Jones.

A funeral service will be held 2:00pm on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Berea Christian Church by Pastor Jeff Smith with the burial to follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.  The family will receive friends from 2-4pm on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mable McKinney in Elon.
