Edna Greeson

Mrs. Edna Phillips Greeson; age 73 of 207 Rosemont St., passed away peacefully Saturday July 16, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family after a three week critical illness A native of Yancey County, she was the wife of Delmer F. Greeson who survives and daughter of the late Carter and Millie Byrd Phillips. Mrs. Greeson attended First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, was employed by Bennett Hosiery in Gibsonville for 28 years and was later office manager at Greeson Plastics. Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Deborah Mabe and husband, Barney, of Gibsonville and Lisa Whitesell and husband, Ricky, of Elon; two grandchildren, Jacob Whitesell and Megan Whitesell; four brothers, Raymond Phillips of Greensboro, Chester Phillips and Edward Phillips both of Bakersville and W.G. Phillips of Burlington; two sisters, Viola Bennett of TN, Vola Stewart of Gibsonville and Virginia "Ginny" Murrell of Gibsonville; sisters-in-law, Rosie Greeson of Greensboro and Essie Ward of Burlington; brother-in-law, Grady Greeson of Whitsett; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Homer Phillips, Richard Phillips, Lester Phillips and Boyd Phillips; and a grandson, Christopher Clapp. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by Rev. Jim Upchurch and Rev. Donnie Phillips. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Greeson will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8pm Monday and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd.
