Edmund Young

Edmund N. Young, 87, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born in Verona, MO to the late John and Katherine Annesser Young. Edmund joined the Army Air Force in September 1942 serving his country in WWII. He worked on the team that helped develop the first atomic submarine. Ed married Luella A. Witthaus on February 24, 1942 in Los Angeles where he was working. They raised 3 children in Idaho Falls, ID. After living there for 20 years, they moved to Jackson, WY and lived there for 10 years, then moved back to Missouri where they both were born and had a small farm there. They later moved to Center Barnstead, NH and built their own house and lived there until moving to Mebane in 2004. He is survived by his 3 children, Bill Young and his wife Ann of Leesburg, GA, Gene Young and his wife Sue of Alton, NH and Luana Young Shafer and her husband Gary of Burlington; 5 grandchildren, Ben Young and his wife Denise of Salem, OR, Morgen Young Kemp and her husband Kevin of New York, Catherine Young of Indiana, Kevin Blincoe and his wife Rebecca of Burlington, Michael Shafer of Burlington and 2 great grandchildren, Zack and Jake Blincoe.
