Burlington, NC Edith Brantley Lougee, age 87 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2014. She was a native of Zebulon, NC and the wife of the late Norman "Woody" Hastings Lougee, Jr. Edith retired after serving as a Magistrate for Alamance County for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and began the first charter for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in North Carolina. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Survivors include her son, Boyd Dean Lougee and his wife, Rosa of Burlington; grandchildren, Deana and Ray Maskill and Scott Morris and his fiance, Rhonda Pauley; great grandchildren, Tony, Tyler and Trinity Morris; great great grandson, Jaxxon Morris and a sister, Margaret Blackwell of Yanceyville, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Dana Brantley Lougee; parents, Oscar and Ettrice Brantley; sisters, Martha Brantley and Jean Ritchie. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11:00 am Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Eller, Jr. and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Relay for Life of Alamance County, 4A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
