Prospect Hill - Edith Shockley Gammon, 84 of 559 John Russell Rd. died on Monday, March 6, 2006 at her home. She was born in Dublin, VA, daughter of the late Elmer Price and Ethel Bowman Shockley and was married to Oscar William Gammon, Sr. for 66 years. Edith was a homemaker and attended Powerline Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her husband, Oscar William Gammon, Sr. of the home; daughters, Ethel Ann Shively of Pleasant Grove and Dessie Marie Howe of Burlington; sons and daughters-in-law, Oscar William "Bill" Gammon, Jr., Elmer Walter "Pete" and Almeria Gammon, Robert Lynn and Geraldine Gammon, Andrew Phillip "Phil" and Denise Gammon, all of Pleasant Grove and Richard Lee and Betty Gammon of Graham; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Clayton Yarbrough of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; Stella Shockley Shatterly, Hazel Shockley Cannon and Ruth Shockley Yarbrough; son-in-law, William Bud Shively; daughter-in-law, Velva Gammon and brother-in-law, George Shatterly. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Powerline Church of the Nazarene by Rev. Tim Taylor and Rev. Darrell Kroeze. Burial will follow at Gammon Memorial Park on Oscar Gammon Rd. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 Wednesday prior to the service at the church and other times at the son's home, Pete Gammon, 5573 Oscar Gammon Rd., Mebane, NC 27302. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Powerline Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 701 Manning Ave., Elon, NC 27244 or to Community Home Care and Hospice, 2855 S.
