Burlington, NC Edith McGhee Cozart, age 90, formerly of Alamance Plaza passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Carteret General Hospital. She was a native of Wake County and the wife of the late David McKinley Cozart. Edith was a homemaker and member of Grove Park Baptist Church. She was an avid Duke fan and enjoyed traveling. Edith recently moved to Cedar Point to live with her son and be near her family. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Sue Cozart of Cedar Point; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Ellis of Burlington; grandchildren, Randall Ellis, David Ellis, Kimberly Bacot and Christopher Cozart; seven great grandchildren and three great, great, grandchildren; brother, Julian McGhee of Moss Point, Mississippi; brother-in-law, Howard Buchanan of Durham. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Charlie Patrick McGhee and Sallie Nipper McGhee Ray; step father, Pete Ray; sisters, Isca McGhee, Beatrice Baldwin, Mae Baldwin and Zulene Buchanan; brothers, Vernon and James McGhee. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Paul Traywick and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter; 131 Markham street, Burlington, NC 27215.
