Roxboro-Edith "Billie" Andrews Clemmer, 87 went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 20, 2016 after a fifteen year battle with cancer. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Daniel Harvey Clemmer, Sr.
Billie retired from Sears Roebuck. She was a former member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and a member of Allensville United Methodist Church in Roxboro. Billie was first diagnosed with cancer in 2001. She used this diagnosis as a testimony to her steadfast faith and love in the Good Lord, Our Great Physician. Billie not only survived, she lived, enjoying her friends and family, always giving God the glory for every days blessings.
Billie lived her life in the steadfast faith with a healthy dose of stubbornness. She often lamented "Why is God leaving me here", as many of her friends and family members were gone. But we knew why! "Granny" had to keep us in line!
Survivors include her daughter, Danna Clemmer Coble (Beth) of Roxboro and her son, Daniel H. Clemmer, Jr. (Brenda) of Mebane; grandchildren, Daniel Robert Clemmer, Neil Coble and Darin Coble (Hali); great grandchildren, Evie Coble and Dax Coble and her beloved cat "Sunny". She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, William Henry and Daisy Blackmon Andrews; sisters, Ruby Cates, Shirley Ferguson and Hilda Terry and infant brother, Bobby Andrews.
The Clemmer family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Gilbert and staff @ Burlington Family Practice; her many cancer doctors at Duke for their loving care over the years; and most recently Duke Hospice, could not have made it without them.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Lori Higgins-Cox.
Memorials may be made to Duke Home Care and Hospice. 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.
