Edith Askew

Edith Catherine Ward Askew, 97, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at her home. A native of Alamance County, she was born December 29, 1917 to the late A.C. Ward and Leota Brown Ward. Catherine was a longtime member of Alamance Lutheran Church and was employed for over 45 years with Kayser-Roth Hosiery. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jo Askew Smith; grandchildren, Marion Radford "Rad" Smith III, Scott Christopher Smith, Melanie Catherine Waldron and husband John; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Sophia, Jarrett and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters and a son-in-law, Marion R. Smith, Jr. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Alamance Lutheran Church by Rev. James "Jim" Lockley with a visitation following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alamance Lutheran Church at 4008 S.
