Earlie "Junior" Lee Harvell, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at his home January 6, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 2, 1939, in Guilford County, Junior's life was one marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a work ethic.
Junior served his country honorably in the United States Army, embodying the spirit of resilience and commitment that characterized his character. After returning from military service, he dedicated much of his professional life to the trucking industry, where he proudly retired from Ace Transport Trucking Company.
He was a devoted father to his daughter and sons: Terri Light and her husband Tim; Ricky Edwards and wife Sherry and Earlie Harvell, III, and his wife Dawn. His legacy lives on through his six grandchildren; Shane Light, Michael Light, Derek Edwards, Blake Edwards, Brandon Harvell and Ashley Harvell and five great-grandchildren, Nate, Buddy, Brayden, Bayleigh and Heidi who were the light of his life and who will carry his memory forward. Junior was a loving brother to his sisters, Nancy Worley, Linda Medley, and Sylvia Gardener, as well as to his brothers, Howard Harvell, James Harvell, and George Harvell. The bonds of family were of utmost importance to Junior, and he cherished the moments spent with them.
Though Junior has reunited with his beloved wife, Christine Harvell, he leaves behind a family filled with love and fond memories of a man who was not only a guiding presence but a source of unwavering support. He is also reunited with his father, Earlie Lee Harvell Sr., his mother, Blanche Scoggins Harvell, and his brothers, Tommy Scoggins, Bobby and Billy Scoggins, who will no doubt welcome him with open arms.
Junior's life was a testament to the strength of family, the importance of friendship, and the value of hard work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
