Earl Scott, Sr.

Earl Rogers Scott, Sr., age 83, of Trail Four passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and was the husband of 64 years to Gertrude Terry Scott who survives. Rogers served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service, and retired from a second job at Asher-McAdams Drug Store after an additional 20 years of service. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter, Rebecca Scott Collins of Burlington; son and daughter-in-law, Earl R. Scott, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne of Burlington; grandchildren, Benjamin G. Cook, Jennifer L. Aldridge, and Samantha L. Scott; great grandchildren, Courtney A. Parsons, Haley M. Parsons, Chloe J. Aldridge and Austin R. Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Kirkman and Mary Bertha Hinshaw Scott; four sisters and five brothers. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Darrel Kroeze at Pine Hilll Cemetery. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Scott family.
