Earl Columbus Graves, 95, passed away February 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Alamance County to the late Ura Denton Graves and the late Flossie Shoffner Graves and was the husband of Gertrude Cole Graves for 74 years who survives. Earl retired from J. Spencer Love Center, a carpenter and was a member of Low's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed building things with his hands, avid gardener and loved the outdoors. Survivors other than his wife of the home includes his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Norma Graves of Burlington; grandchildren and spouses, Stacey and Beth Graves, Travis and Robin Graves; great grandchildren, Ashley Graves, James Graves and Amanda Graves; step great grandson, Alex Cauthren; brother, Fred B. Graves of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dorinda Graves Kelly; sisters, Iona G. Nuckols, Rosa G. Cole and Elaine G. Mann; brothers, Elmer Graves, Alton Graves, Marvin Graves and U.D. Graves. The funeral service will be held 11:00am Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Low's Lutheran Church by Pastor David Mielke with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Low's Lutheran Church, 2136 Hwy 61 South, Liberty, NC 27298 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
