Dwight Cook, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Caswell County and was married to Deborah Barts Cook who survives.
Dwight worked as an Operations Director at Holly Hill Mall for nearly 40 years where he developed many friendships that turned into family. Him and his bride, Deborah, celebrated 50 years of marriage this past February. They had two sons, Bryan and Jamey, that they loved to spend time with. There are so many fishing and camping trips to look back and smile on. Dwight was an avid NASCAR fan and the family would enjoy Sundays together in front of the TV cheering for Dale Earnhardt.
Dwight loved to take the family to their home away from home in Holden Beach, where he was better known as Burt. They enjoyed taking the boat out and even had some “unique” oystering experiences with lifelong friends and beach neighbors, Ricky and Sue Fulford. Time spent on the back deck laughing with the people he cared about the most was where you could see Dwight at his happiest.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Cook; sons, Jamey Cook, Bryan Cook and his wife, Ashley; brother, Raymond Cook and his wife, Sally; grandchildren, Dayton and Brianna Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and William “Bill” Fuquay; brothers, Jerry, Larry and Lynwood “Bubba” Cook; sister, Dorothy Cook and a granddaughter, Amelia Ray Cook.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Jackie Carter. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
